Milestone Projects

Milestone Projects  YAY! We've reached the end of the semester! I'm definitely gonna miss this class, I've learnt a lot and struggled but made it through :) A) My first definition First definition was super overwhelming but was a great step towards learning this new part of object designing B) Animation C) Laser Cut Tile D) Parametric Vessel E) Parametric Furniture For the Parametric chair I was inspired by bean bag chairs, I wanted my furniture too be round and plump! I am so happy with the final result and the final 3D printed piece :) it is the most adorable little chair in the world! F) Paneled Structure G) CNC Relief Tile  I attempted to give the design a bit more life by changing the heights of each vornoi segments.

PARAMETRIC 3D SURFACE DESIGN: PART 1

PARAMETRIC 3D SURFACE DESIGN: PART 1  Designing a 3D surface design to be printed of in a CNC machine. In all honestly this sounds super exciting and I thought the demos were really cool! Although sitting here thinking about what to do or where to start... I have no idea, maybe lets play around with some definitions till I figure something out and come across something I like. I started with somethings we learnt in class, I thought it might be interesting if I  This didn't really turn out the way I wanted to, I thought it would be more interesting. It was an experimentation for a reason, so onto the next! Voronoi is always interesting and never lets us down so lets try that! I felt like I was on a roll until I couldn't get the Voronoi to extrude in different heights AHH so I tried backing up like usual to see if there was a way, but I ended up doing other things instead. I kinda really got into it so I forgot to take some screenshots :( I still had a lot of trouble beca...

MILESTONE PROJECT: ALGORITHMIC PANELED STRUCTURE - Part 2

Image
Algorithmic Paneled Structure - Part 2 I wasn't actually sure if I was supposed to make a blog post this week but I might as well show my choices and progression for this Milestone project. I wasn't exactly sure if I wanted to create another design or stick to the one I already had. Or I was even thinking about printing my furniture design as a miniature version. (It would be so cute to have a tiny chair!)  But first things first, testing the wall thickness to see if they are reasonable to print.  I fixed up my algorithmic paneled structure to now have 1 definition instead of 7. I had a problem with installing MeshMixer so I had to default to Shapeways to check if my design is good enough to be 3D printed. I made a new geometry to be tiled onto my surface. I wanted to see if I can create a more intricate design instead of a simple Dimond grid.   I really enjoyed the design when there were many tiled around my surface, although I knew this wouldn't work out because ...
