Outsourced Wearable Object: Finalize and Verify *Updated*

Image
Outsourced Wearable Object: Finalize and Verify I am e x h a u s t e d ! For some reason this project has been giving me a lot of difficulties and I really wish I had more time to work on it. For my ring I have chosen to go with the Bonsai Ring. Now this was genuinely a difficult decisions because I loved the other ideas I had planned for this project, they were all pretty cool and unique in their own ways, but in the end it was the bonsai that won the race. I've been having a alot of troubles with the export and putting it onto shapeways (It tells me my file is too big) , I am unsure if my ring just has a lot of areas that aren't properly built or I made a mistake with the export on mech/triangles. Here are photos of the rentered and shaded view of my ring: I DIT IT I DID IT I DID IT!! For some reason I was having troubles uploading my object onto Shapeways, but finally I managed to figure out how to reduce the size of my file (including my object.)  Here is my uploaded wea...

Outsourced Wearable Object: Concept Selection and Proof Sheet

Image
Outsourced Wearable Object: Concept Selection and Proof Sheet After wonderful conversations with my peers and Bryan, I have finally concluded to the THREE ring concepts I enjoy the most.   A Bonsai, a Snake and a Flower ring.  Honestly this was pretty hard. I had a lot of troubles on different parts for each ring. Although I tried not to stress about it since i knew this was also a rough draft. Here are some ScreenShots of my work : (I always forget to take shots of my process) The snake seems like a simple enough concept but I've been having troubles with the shape after i SWEEP it. Not only that I haven't been able to fully complete the reptile scale texture since I've been having troubles with the FLowAlongSrf I had to learn how to make a Petal of a flower by using InterpretCRV, and learning how to use the REBUILD tool.  I haven't completed the Bonsai tree yet, I finally got a decent shape to the trunk and i'm still planning to manipulate it with Twist and ...

Outsourced Wearable Object: Concept Generation

Image
Outsourced Wearable Object: Concept Generation Wearable objects, our next project consists of creating a sculptural wearable ring. A conversation starter. As I was starting to do my 16 sketches for this project, I realized I was really into the nature theme. I wanna play around with roots and vines, I wanna create organic shapes of flowers or trees, and probably the most complicated ideas I have are the animals, snakes, cats, and even bigger cats (tigers :D ) I have not fully completed my 16 sketches because I was focusing on my Reverse Engineer Project. I will be updating this blog when I have completed my sketches. Here is a photo of my in progress sketch works:

Reverse Engineered Object : Rendered and Exploded Finally! I have managed to complete my Reverse Engineered Object!  There was so many complications during the final steps but I managed to push through! Here are some photos of the final product :

Reverse Engineered Object : Progress 3

Image
Reverse Engineered Object : Progress 3 No exploded view. No renderings. This is kind of upsetting to me. I genuinely wanted to complete my pencil this week but I sure did struggle. This is okay because I will be taking this opportunity for me to further practice and learn what I can do better, I can fix certain parts I may not be happy with and I can adjust measurements if needed.  This was probably a more complicated week for me working on my pencil. For some reason a lot of my parts were very finicky since they were small and difficult to maneuver around. I had troubles figuring out how to complete my screw on the bottom part of the pencil. but after many and many spirals, MANY and Many sweeps I was finally able to get the right shape and size of the spiral screw.   The part I spent a lot of time on and will continue to be spending a lot of time on, is the textured part on the grip of the pencil. This part has extremely small diamond shaped bumps and this makes ...
