Parametric Line Drawings


I don't know whether I am having a hard time grasping how grasshopper works, or this is actually a hard tool to work with. Or maybe its both! Either way I want to say I definitely am struggling to remember certain commands and figuring how things work exactly. 

 And finally I made my attempt and started the assignment! I wanted to work with a polygon shape then some where down the line I think I got lost.




I got really confused and wondered why my polygon became a circle, even if I lowered the amount of sides. I ended up deleting the polygon then adding it again and it worked.


This is where I've "completed" my parametric line drawing, I managed to make several intriguing drawings from the initial hexagon I started with. I'm not sure if I properly structured my algorithm chart right but the end result seemed fine. (End result before backing + 2D)

Thinking that I might be done, I chose to check the assignment sheet to double check if there is anything I am missing. To my surprise, I've realized from the examples I can definitely and probably do way more, perhaps a bit more complicated. (for my level of understanding)

And here is now my second attempt:

I still wanted to work with a polygon shape then got lost and had no idea what I was doing.



After figuring things out I and was happy with an interesting result ( Looks just like a crotchet doily!) I still felt like this was just as simply as my first attempt so this time I tried a different shape by IterpCrv on rhino.


Here are the algorithm for each of the designs plus screenshots of the final pieces: (I added an extra one but didn't realize 2 of them were quite similar! Oops!)

 Reverse Engineered Object : Progress 1 The Object that I have chosen to reverse engineer from my three options, Is my Muji balance mechanical pencil. I chose this object because even if it seems quite simple, there are still a lot of different intricate parts and textures areas. I first started this project by sketching out the pencil and its parts to measure each piece.  It was annoying at first that when I would measure something and remeasure it again I would get very different results in numbers.  Although I do know these are the things that have to be done to be accurate!   Outsourced Wearable Object: Concept Selection and Proof Sheet After wonderful conversations with my peers and Bryan, I have finally concluded to the THREE ring concepts I enjoy the most.   A Bonsai, a Snake and a Flower ring.  Honestly this was pretty hard. I had a lot of troubles on different parts for each ring. Although I tried not to stress about it since i knew this was also a rough draft. Here are some ScreenShots of my work : (I always forget to take shots of my process) The snake seems like a simple enough concept but I've been having troubles with the shape after i SWEEP it. Not only that I haven't been able to fully complete the reptile scale texture since I've been having troubles with the FLowAlongSrf I had to learn how to make a Petal of a flower by using InterpretCRV, and learning how to use the REBUILD tool.  I haven't completed the Bonsai tree yet, I finally got a decent shape to the trunk and i'm still planning to manipulate it with Twist and ...
