WELCOME TO OBDF 310: ALGORITHMIC AND PARAMETRIC DESIGN

Winter semester 2021. We're back in school and our lazy days are gone.. (for the most part!) I am excited that we have returned to OBDF once again in its 300 level class, taught by Bryan Cera! I would be lying if I didn't say I was nervous for this class though, I genuinely thing coding/programing seems complicated and grasshopper just seemed a bit overwhelming from the brief demo we saw at the end of our 200 level class last semester.

During the first day we got to learn the basics on "Grasshopper" by understanding how to create points and using the search system. Honestly hearing words like algorithm, parametric, iteration and generative I was getting worried, but after a few small demos I felt like this was manageable, I understand and I think I can learn.

Our first practice/assignment of this semester is following a tutorial on Grasshopper by David Rutten.

Here are some of my screenshots I took while following the tutorial, it started out confusing (As shown in the first photo, I have no idea what I did wrong there), but soon enough I started to get a hang of it.

After working through the tutorial I made an attempt on making my own unique shapes and played around with other tools. (I'm not exactly sure what to make specifically so it will be random until further classes/tutorials)

I created something that ended up being a fail, although I was really tired when I wanted to work on it again and accidently saved a blank Rhino file over so its now gone :( but heres a screenshot of my failed attempt.

I will keep experimenting and seeing what works since this is definitely a learning process for me.
